Windshield and auto glass replacement in Holton

Windshield and glass replacement and windshield chip repair on all makes and models, with a local shuttle so you do not have to sit around and wait.

Chip or crack: what decides whether the glass stays

A windshield is two layers of glass with a plastic sheet bonded between them, and that sheet is why a small chip can often be saved. If the impact has not gone all the way through, a chip can be filled and the glass kept, which is the reason windshield chip repair is worth a phone call before the chip has time to spread.

Dirt, water and temperature swings all work against a chip. One cold night or one hot afternoon on the highway can turn it into a crack that runs across your line of sight. Once that happens, filling it no longer helps and the glass has to come out. Ron Kirk's Body Shop does both jobs, repair and replacement, on all makes and models.

Their own line says it best: "Cracked or Broken Windshield? Bring It on Down!" Drive it to 501 Vermont Ave in Holton or call (785) 364-2931, and describe what you are looking at. A chip you caught early is a very different job from a windshield that has already split.

Replacement, start to finish

Replacement starts with removing the damaged glass and cleaning the frame it sits in, because the new windshield is only as secure as the surface it bonds to. A fresh bead of adhesive goes down, the glass is set and aligned, and then the adhesive needs time to cure before the vehicle goes back on the road.

That cure time is the part worth asking about. Hurrying a windshield back into service is how leaks, wind noise and a poorly seated pane happen. The shop does windshield and glass replacement on foreign and domestic vehicles alike, and because the body shop is under the same roof, you can ask about any damage around the glass when you bring it in.

The shuttle, so you are not stuck waiting

A glass job should not cost you a lost afternoon in a waiting room. The shop runs a local shuttle service, so you don't have to sit around and wait while the work is done. Drop the vehicle off, get where you are going, and come back when it is ready.

Locally owned and operated in Holton since 1983, the shop is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with extended hours by appointment. If the glass broke because of a bigger hit, say so when you call, so the shop knows what else to look at before you arrive.

After a windshield job

“We had a windshield put in, was done rather quickly considering how busy they stay. Ron and his son are pretty awesome and they are willing to work with you.”

Michelle Bowen, Google review

Cracked glass is often the tail end of something bigger, so the body shop is right there if you need it: start with collision repair. If privacy is on your mind while the windows are out, ask about window tinting, or send the shop a few lines about the damage through the contact page.
